The project to extend the basin and renovate the northern quays of the port of Cotonou will now be a reality. It was during a contract signing that the Director General of the port gave the go ahead this Monday 25 July 2022 at the headquarters of his institution.
This event took place in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of Benin, Hervé Hehomey.
For an investment of more than 106 billion FCFA, the group in charge of executing the works, and composed of the French companies Eiffage, Spie batignolles and the Beninese company Adéoti SARL will have the heavy task of carrying out the works.

This work should enable the port of Cotonou to accommodate large ships of 350m in length and 45m in width on average, which is good news for the maritime and port industry.
As a reminder, in 2018, the Beninese state took the unprecedented step of delegating the management of the Autonomous Port of Cotonou to Port of Antwerp International (PAI). With the planned development and extension works, Benin is committed to a long-term vision: to make the port of Cotonou an innovative, secure and reliable logistics platform for international trade.
